Sanding is an integral part of my subtractive process. It is a way to erase, to strip down and ultimately unify the surface when I feel it is becoming too busy and cacophonous.

There are many hand sanders out there that one can choose from with speed adjusters, different sizes and shape heads, with a dust bag attached or an extension to attach your vacuum cleaner. Mine is old and simple but still serves me well.
