Scale Shapes For Left-hand Mastery - Fiddle Lesson

Follow
FiddleHed

Understanding scale shapes will help you to play in all twelve keys while improving your overall technique.
What is a scale shape? It's a pattern of finger spacings used to build scales. Each shape can be moved to play scales in other keys. This allows you to play in tougher keys, like E flat or C sharp major.

This lesson was taught by guest teacher Ruth Roland. She made a followup video which you can see on her FiddleGeek channel:    • Fiddlers: Always Land on the Right No...

Earlier this year, Ruth led a workshop for FiddleHed subscribers on Scale Shapes. The replay is available on the FiddleHed site with a subscription (along with 45 other archived workshops on everything from double stops to improvisation).

On that page you’ll find:
Sheet music
