ScaleFX: the best RetroArch upscaling shader beats even xBRZ!
The scalefxaafast shader in RetroArch is the very best upscaling shader I've seen for retro graphics even better than 6xBRZ. Here are some screenshot and ingame comparisons, and how to set it in RetroArch.
Oh, and I nudged its sharpness up a tad by setting this in "Shader Parameters":
Deblur offset: 2.25
Deblur str.: 5.50
Smart deblur: 0.05
