This USB Software Defined Radio is about the price of a steak dinner for one, but holds the potential to be far more entertaining! We used a "sacrificial laptop" (an i5 from 2011 with 8GB of RAM) since there was a lot of software to be installed. And we found even with this basic equipment we were able to pick up a ton of signals "out there in the ether" (It is worth noting that to pick up ham or 2.4 GHz stuff like cordless phones/Bluetooth some additional equipment would be required.) But in the end, having never experimented with SDR before, I felt this was a great value. If you have a very technically inclined person on your Christmas shopping list, this would make an excellent gift!
