SEPTA Market Frankford Line Millbourne Station

I spent much of a foggy New Years Eve day 2022 recording trains at SEPTA’s Millbourne Station on the Market Frankford Line.

The station is located in Millbourne Borough, just outside of Philadelphia.

Much of the MFL runs elevated and as a subway. Millbourne is one of only two ground level stops on the system, the other being the 69th Street Transportation Center in nearby Upper Darby.

Originally known as 66th Street Station, Millbourne is one of the original stops that was opened on the Market Street Elevated by the Philadelphia Rapid Transit Company in 1907.

This used to be a B train skipstop for the MFL up until 2020 when that system was done away with. All trains now stop at Millbourne.

Millbourne underwent an extensive renovation and modernization back in 2007. Although there is no public parking for SEPTA passengers at the station, a brand new lot was recently constructed. The lot is for the use of CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) services & logistics center employees on the westbound side of the station.

While Millbourne doesn’t provide the dramatic views of the Philadelphia skyline like some of the elevated stops west of 40th Street, it still is one of the more interesting stations you will find on the MFL and well worth recording at.

Thanks for watching!
