Serious Eats Manila: Kenny Rogers Roasters Truffle Roast Chicken Collection Rotisserie Chicken Ribs. Kenny Rogers Roasters is a casual dining chain of restaurants specializing in rotisserie chicken. It was founded in Florida in 1991 by legendary country musician Kenny Rogers and former KFC CEO John Y. Brown Jr., who is a former governor of the U.S. state of Kentucky. The brand grew to 350 branches worldwide at its peak but due to legal issues and competition from Boston Chicken all the U.S. branches have closed and was bought out by Nathan's Famous in 1998 and then sold to the Berjaya Group of Malaysia in 2008 and currently there are more than 400 branches across Asia including Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, China, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Dubai, Thailand and the Philippines. The first branch in the Philippines was opened at the Alabang Town Center in 1995 and there are now over 100 branches in the Philippines and is considered to offer one of the best tasting and consistent rotisserie chicken in the market.
