Oh no, kids, Cookie Monster has amnesia! He doesn't even know what cookies are! Everybody cross your fingers as we watch this potential tragedy unfold on another groovy episode of the best darn kids show ever, Sesame Street! Episode 352, first aired on February 29, 1972 (Season 3), so let's leap into this one. Get it? It was a Leap Year, kids, pay attention out there ;) And don't forget to send thanks and big hugs to Ingeborg Nordén aka @Just Looking! for another goodie.

The big street story kicks off (6:35) when Maria (Sonia Manzano) and David (Northern Calloway) invite Cookie Monster (Frank Oz) to go for a walk. Coming down the stairs of 123 Sesame, he trips on a roller skate, tumbles down to the sidewalk (truly inspiring stunt work and camerablocking all round here, lol! This is why I adore the early days), hitting his head, which causes him to lose all memory of who he is and who these kind strangers could be. He wanders the Street trying to sort it out. Oscar (Caroll Spinney) thinks he might be a Grouch (they share the same shaggy fur and hairy paws) and Big Bird (Caroll again) gives him the bird test (a bowl of birdseed, blech!) and concludes, "Maybe he's an antelope." He even thinks he might be a mailbox until Mr. Hooper (Will Lee) sets him straight. Finally, Maria plays a game of "One of These Things" using cookies and urges him to try one (he thinks it's a rock or button), but even that doesn't change anything. Any TV sitcom fan knows what he needs here. Another conk on the beano! Sure enough, down the stairs he goes on that same skate and, voila, he's all cured and soon noshing on cookies, yeah!

NOTE: Going by @Muppet Wiki, the only notable change I could find was the film they've marked as "Struggle" (kids narrate as humans and animals overcome obstacles, a boy trying to ride a twowheeler) has been replaced with one I've called "You Can Do It!" (kids narrate as a baby crawls to reach a toy and a bear tackles a salmon).

OTHER NEW CAST STUFF: David and the kids put their play things away (two blocks, three balls, and four cans) into three numbered boxes.

REPEAT CAST: Tom (Larry Block) and Gordon (Matt Robinson) want to play with their blocks and truck on the same table without getting in each other's way (2 parts); Gordon and Bob carry sacks of potatoes(!) from one numbered group to another.

NEW MUPPETS: Ernie & Bert: Bert (Frank Oz) asks who Ernie (Jim Henson) is decorating the room for (it's you, the viewer at home!); Ernie shows the letter Q with a quart of milk which Cookie Monster drinks; Grover (Frank Oz) and the kids watch Alphabet Bates write a Q in the sky; Big Bird recites a short, silly snake poem.

REPEAT MUPPETS: Ernie & Bert: Cookies In Bed and The Wrong Patient; Bob (Bob McGrath) reads "The Queen's Questions" (Queen Quinella and Quincy the duck); Alphabet O'Malley (Frank Oz), whose full name consists of twentysix first names in alphabetical order; Betty Lou (Fran Brill) demonstrates Beginning, Middle, and End, with three aptly named Muppets.

REPEAT CARTOONS/ANIMATION: Cowboy X (voices: Jean Shepherd); Number Twelve Rocks; Poverty Q (Cliff Roberts); Q for Quarter (Casey Kasem); Q ("That funny looking thing"); Bridge (Race car tracks cross paths covering most of the screen, foot prints blank out the last bit).

REPEAT FILMS: Fish, Baboon and Child, and Green Tree Snake (all Joe Raposo music); George the Farmer (beginning and end); You Can Do It!, kids narrate as a baby crawls to reach a toy and a bear tackles a salmon ("Maybe he's starving!"); Bob assembles a number 12.
