Setting up flaps flaperons or spoilerons in ETHOS

Follow
Mr.D - Falling with style

In this video we go through the process of setting up flap, flaperons, or spoilerons on your ETHOS transmitter. This is a pretty simple process thanks to the mixes that ETHOS provides. But, there are a couple of little changes to get them working just nice.

Flaps are used on models with their own flap control surfaces. So our flap mix will be just controlling these surfaces. If you don't want to use full span ailerons, you can use a Ylead for the flaps, so long as the servos move the surfaces in the same directions. You can use a Ylead on your ailerons, if you don't want to use crow braking.

Flaperons and spoilerons work on the aileron control surfaces. They are mostly used because you don't have separate flaps. In essence, flaperons and spoilerons are set up the same. Only for flaperons, both ailerons go down. With spoilerons, both ailerons go up. Flaperons, like flaps are used to generate lift, so that you can fly more slowly. However, spoilerons are used to spoil the airflow, killing the lift, and getting the plane to sink.

In this video, I use a slider for the flap control. But it could be a 3 position switch. In that case, you could use a 3 point curve, and use the middle point to tune your first position flaps.
