Setting up my French Easel for Plein Air Painting!

It was such a warm and beautiful fall afternoon at peak foliage in Maine so I decided to do a little leafpeeping and pastel painting! Come see what I brought!

Supplies (Affiliate links used) my easel is quite old, I will try to find a comparable substitution.
French easel: (this is an official Julian Easel) https://amzn.to/3RJmbIH
There are other offbrand ones that look to be good too: https://amzn.to/3VcN4Ye
You can reuse the foam pastel inserts from pastel sets you have purchased to fit inside the drawers. All drawers are different. You might even be able to place your cardboard pastel boxes on your easel. The pastel drawer I bought from Jerry's Artarama years ago is no longer available and I couldn't find one with a sliding top which is really great for keeping the pastels from moving in route. Get creative and make your own!

I used the inserts from this gorgeous set of pastels in my box: https://amzn.to/3ed5xTZ because I put these pastels in my studio drawers like these: https://amzn.to/3RKVcfJ

For travel, I like medium and firm pastels like these: https://amzn.to/3fFlUJk and these: https://amzn.to/3EmEe4o

And sanded pastel paper: https://shrsl.com/3qjmn This comes with glassine. I tape the paper to my palette and after I am done I tape the glassine over top to protect my work in transit, no need for spray fixative.
