The Shanghai Tourism Festival is the largest and most influential largescale tourism festival in China.

The Shanghai Tourism Festival was founded in 1990. The event starts on a Saturday in September every year and lasts for more than 20 days, covering nearly 40 projects in several categories such as sightseeing, leisure, entertainment, culture and sports, exhibitions, food, shopping, etc. It attracts more than 8 million tourists every year.

With the orientation of "the festival of the people" and the theme of "walking into the beauty and joy", the Shanghai Tourism Festival promotes the development requirements of the "the Belt and Road" initiative for tourism and attracts strong support and broad participation from all sectors of society through a variety of distinctive festivals in various districts and counties of Shanghai.
