In this extract, we follow divers Ghislain and Emmanuelle Bardout as they head to the South Pacific to explore deep corals. Aboard their boat, the Why, and working alongside biologist Laetitia Hédouin, they study the workings of the corals, hoping to film the dazzling spectacle of coral spawning.

On one dive, an encounter with a shark doesn't go quite as planned, and the divers don't draw the intimidating swim the animal undertakes.
