“All of a sudden, my heart became so big that I thought it was going to burst out of my chest.”

Ten years ago, Marilena was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia – a nerve disorder that caused unbearable pain in her head. She estimates she spent as much as a hundred thousand dollars on specialists, medications, and alternative therapies in her search for a cure. When every attempt failed, she became suicidal.

Despite the persistent pain, Marilena began to meditate – a challenge at first. She struggled with doubt – but stuck with it, firmly believing she could change.
