Learn what a Kfactor is in sheet metal forming, learn how Kfactor is used, and learn how to calculate Kfactor in this video.

Kfactors are a great tool for developing flat blanks for sheet metal forming. However, I have noticed many people do not have the best understanding of what KFactors are, how to derive them, and how to properly use them.

KFactors are affected by every forming variable: Material type, grade, thickness, forming method, tooling, bend angle, etc. Changing any of these things can change the Kfactor of a bend. For this reason we should be careful when using generic Kfactor tables. We should always do testing to verify the the Kfactor given any combination of these variables.
