Being a city right next to the ocean, Hai Phong is quite famous for seafood in general, but it's especially famous for the many different types of snails they cook up. You can find restaurants selling "Ốc Hải Phòng" all over northern Vietnam, so being in the city itself, I couldn't leave without trying some dishes.

Typically this is a meal shared by friends in the evening on the weekend or after a long day at work, so being by myself, I knew I'd have to get ready to eat a lot. After doing a bit of research, I decided on a shop called "Ốc Thuỷ Dương" which is run by a cute husband and wife couple. Their shop is in a small little alley. As you drive down it, it seems like it's going to be a dead end, but then it opens up slightly to reveal a fairly big restaurant with tons of different types of snails and seafood placed neatly out front in bowls of ice.

After parking your bike, you walk up and choose the type of food you want to be prepared, and the waiters will give you recommendations on cooking styles. It's really fun.
