Should Christians have intimate friendships with nonChristians? It seems rude or offensive to even ask such a question, but if you can get over that prejudice, it’s actually a pretty interesting question and one I would extend to other creeds and beliefs as well.

If you’re a committed Hindu, or Muslim, or atheist, and there are a set of beliefs that are important to you and which you want to adhere to in your life, is it a good idea to form important friendships with people who not only don’t adhere to your way of life, but may be committed to a different an opposing way of life?

The prevailing wisdom of today would say yes. We should be friends with people of all walks of life and that seems to be a bit of a default answer from a lot of Christians as well. But conventional wisdom also says some pretty insane stuff these days. So, maybe conventional wisdom is worth questioning from time to time.
