This is budget lab gear that will be at home on any workbench but sould you buy a solder reflow hotplate is entirely dependent on your use case. This hotplate solder reflow works just fine for basic repairs and SMD assembly. By preheating the circuit board you can avoid the chances of thermal shock which stresses joints causing cracks leading to failures later on.
