If you want to “save money” by having a lower interest rate to pay at the end of the month, then by all means, close at the end of the month. However, this will cause your next payment to be a lot closer, for your first payment occurs on the second 1st of the following month.

This also means that if you were to close at the beginning of the month you would still have to pay more upon closing, but your first payment would be 50+ days instead of 30+ days that you would have to wait, for you still would have your first payment the second 1st of a month after closing.
