Shuttle bus build part 2 - ChristinaGoes

The next stage of my bus build happened between trips with it. The bus is far from perfect, but it works for me. I am loving how cozy it feels inside, and how practical it is for racing and working. I chose to do upgrades that allow me to add to, or change out, according to my budget and needs.

In this stage, I insulated heavily after feeling the cold creep in. I repurposed the flooring that was in there with a 3/4" tongue and groove subfloor, and 2" dense foam board underneath. The walls used additional foam board under the paneling, along with spray foam in crevices. The honeycomb shades offer an insulation on the windows. The pocket they sit in keeps them tucked back since my walls curve out. Reflectix and foam board line the ceiling. I used 12/2 marine wire for my electrical. For framing, I alternated across the metal bus frame to prevent thermal bridging.

Eventually I will replace the fold out futon with a booth that converts to a bed, and allows for a pass through to the back with the table folded up.

I'm trying not to skimp on the main build, and then slowly replace cabinets, etc, as I can. This is allowing me to use it for travel in the meantime. Hopefully this helps others see that it's possible to still live your dreams on a tight, but smart, budget.

Still need to finish stairs, inside window frames, cabinets, build a closet, add a bathroom, put in sink and plumbing, and finish the garage. But even then there will be more to add, like solar. I have a generator for off grid power, or a shore power hookup for my main. I recently installed a small a/c unit I can run with either of those power sources for now.

Check out my amazon store in my linktree for many of the items I used. If you use the link to make a purchase, it helps me out without costing you anything extra!

Thanks for watching!
