Signing Bonus = when an employee gets to keep the money just for joining.
Retention Bonus = when an employee gets to keep the money IF they stay with the company for a predetermined length of time.
It’s okay to accept a bonus (of either kind!), as long as you know the details, you’re aware that they’re taxed, and you keep in mind that they are a one time payment that doesn’t often help with your long term salary growth.
