Rated as the best Fadista (fado singer) in India of all time, Sonia has been singing professionally for the last 14 yrs, and has performed in Goa, Daman, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Luxembourg, Macau, Kuwait, France, Singapore, Hawaii, Nepal, Canada, Israel, New York, California, Houston,London, Dubai, Muscat, Brussels and Lisbon.

In May 2010, Sonia released her debut album, ‘Saudades de Fado’, this album was recorded in Lisbon, and released by Rock and Raaga, in Goa. Which was followed by another 3 Solo Albums which included Saudades de Fado II.
Fado in the City and Fado de Goa are 2 projects by Sonia Shirsat, that have created a Fado revolution in Goa. With over 300 students of Fado that have been participants at the Annual Fado Contest, performed various concerts in Goa as well as performed with Sonia Shirsat in her Concerts, the future of the Fado in Goa looks more secure than ever before.
