Follow
Model Train Fun

This video shows how you can make a simple Lego bridge with approach for the Märklin Ctrack. The bridge and approach is made using simple Lego pillars with brackets to support the Ctrack at the joints between tracks. The video generally talks about what you need to think about when making inclines and bridges. Tips'n'Tricks and best practices for inclines and bridges that also apply to your normal inclines are given.

The Lego pillars are build of the following bricks:
Base plate: 4x10 plate
Pillars: 2x2 round bricks
Bracket on top: 2x8 plate, 2x2 brick, 1x2 brick

Suggested inclines/grades
1% Perfect
2% Almost perfect
3% Ok
4% Steep
5% The limit

Suggest using 12% for permanent layouts. Generally, try to stay at 3% and below to support all locomotives and consists. However, I use 35% on my compact temporary layouts.

Tips & How to included:
How to make the bridge & approach
How to find Lego "Pick a Brick"
Tip: Always support at the Ctrack joints
Tip: I use 7 Lego Bricks height for the pillars
Tip: Use 07 brick pillars for the approach
Tip: 9 tracks for approach incl 1 before and 1 after
Tip: Longer tracks means less steep incline
Tip: 24188 on the approach is 5.1% incline
Tip: 24130 on the approach is above 5.1% incline
Tip: 24330 on the approach is 3.5% incline
Tip: Use short tracks on level points to avoid steep grades
Tip: Don’t use too long tracks max is 24188/24330
Tip: Use at least one straight 24172 on the peak
Tip: Exchange tracks lengths to avoid pillars on tracks below bridge
Tip: Verify all clearances to your trains
Tip: Verify clearance of long locomotives or cars
Tip: Lego "Pick a Brick" is not available in all countries
Tip: Use the color and brick filters on Lego "Pick a Brick"

Enjoy and have fun with model trains :)
