Simple Painting: D-Day US Paratroopers - How I Paint Things

Despite chaotic misdrops and paratroopers landing miles from their drop zones, these highlytrained volunteers were instrumental in thwarting the German war machine's response to the Allied beach landings along the Normandy coast. Painting them is a great deal simpler! READ MORE:

The US 82nd Airborne Division would make their first combat drop on Sicily on the night of 910 July 1943, supporting Allied amphibious landings as part of Operation Husky. That same uniform and equipment would be dropped on Normandy on the night of 56 June 1944, as paratroopers, pathfinders and gliderborne infantry began the invasion of mainland Europe and began the long battle to roll up German resistance and seize Berlin. During the course of US Airborne combat operations, American paratroopers would square off against hurriedlydeployed conscripts in service of the German war machine to the bestequipped and most fanatical enemy troops the Nazi Party could field. Through a combination of intense training and the raw, dogged determination that made them the stuff of legend, the parachute infantry would play a pivotal role in the eventual Allied victory over Hitler's armies.
