People like me spend a lifetime seeking and doing very complicated things and a key point of this video is to share my thoughts on how good it feels to stop the complexity!

With this second encounter with the disease, I am in a better position to reflect on how I come to grips with the big questions that the illness triggers. I certainly can be overwhelming but somehow Sharon and I manage to take it one step at a time. This video explores one of the most important tools that we've found to make life with the disease just a little simpler ... walking.

Sharon and I are fortunate that throughout our life together, we have always enjoyed each other's company during long, winding, and often seemingly pointless walks. But of course we now understand the point.

In a couple of days I will undergo the first of two lung surgeries to remove the malignant growths that have spread from the original colorectal cancer. I am now living with a much more complicated illness ... I need all the simplicity I can get. Wish me luck!
