A centrifugal compressor is an operating turbomachinery in which one or more rotating impellers supply dynamic energy to a compressible fluid with the aim to increase its pressure. When the inlet nozzle is not axial, an inlet volute is necessary to convey the gas into an annular stream to feed the (first) impeller.
