This film is in memory of my father Charles Howell who served in the 13th/18th Hussars who went ashore on Gold Beach on June 6th 1944.
His regiment motored through Northern Europe and took their Sherman tanks as far as Bremen which they entered April 1945.
My father survived then transfered to the Military Police then later joined the Somerset Police Force, he passed away in 1964 aged forty.
In memory to all the Allied servicemen and the civilian population of South Devon who sacrificed so much to support the final years of World War Two.
