As part of the ESA's ongoing Situational Awareness health and safety campaign, this film has been created to support recycling and waste service operators in the use of handheld mobile devices while driving.

Handheld technology has become much more common than it was in the past, with mobile phones, tablets, and other devices now offering a variety of applications that assist with journeys and often integrate into existing dashboard systems and vehicle technology.

However, these devices can also be a source of distraction. Understanding the laws regarding handheld technology and what constitutes its use helps us remain compliant while limiting its use. This allows us to maintain our focus, keep our attention on the road ahead, and be aware of our changing environment to avoid unexpected incidents.
