Skiing in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn: One of the largest ski areas in Austria. We explore all subareas and ski some of the best ski slopes.

Have you ever been to the Skicircus? If so, which part of the ski area do you like best? And do you maybe even have a favorite descent? Share your experiences with us in the comments!

We start in the snowy ski resort in the morning. It's cold down here in the shade between the snowcovered houses. The snow crunches underfoot and we are on our way to the first track. We want to make a detour to every part of the ski area and therefore have to start early.

So let's go up with the Kohlmaisbahn. We'll soon be in the gondola towards the sun and at the mountain station a brilliant view awaits us. From here we have a direct view of the Leoganger Steinberge.

But we don't want to delay the day's skiing any longer & so it's downhill via the first descent. The snow is grippy, there's a bit of dust and, above all, it's a lot of fun.

The cable car takes us up to the Großer Asitz. There we visit one of the Tonspuren islands. We can listen to the recording of one of the soundtrack concerts on wooden loungers. That's nice.

Then it goes over to the Schattberg. With the Schattberg XPress we float over the steep Schattberg north descent. However, we don't jet down it, but we commute further over to the west summit. One of the most beautiful descents starts here at the highest point of the ski area. The west run is evenly inclined, super wide and ideal for sporty skiers. We'll make your thighs glow.

In between we can look straight towards the Zwölferkogel. And that's where the World Cup downhill runs into the valley. It looks super steep from here.

That's where it goes up next. We take the Zwölferkogelbahn up to the summit cross. The view is awesome. We look over the Loferer Steinberge, the Leoganger Steinberge, Watzmann and Hochkönig to the Kitzsteinhorn. There is also a glacier ski area on the Kitzsteinhorn and you can ski there just like the Schmittenhöhe with the Alpin Card. Then there are 408 kilometers of pistes in the huge ski network.

Now the World Cup slope is waiting. The first turns are still okay, then it gets steeper and before the steepest part I stop again. We are facing the legendary eastern slope, which has a gradient of up to 72%. That looks almost vertical. It's hard to believe that the pros shoot down shots here.

By the way: In 2025, the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships will be held in Saalbach. Please make a note of that.

I consciously ski down the steep section myself and am happy to have arrived at the bottom without falling. Then it's off to Fieberbrunn. This part of the ski area is known as a freeride Eldorado. The Wildseeloder can also be seen here. The freeride professionals scale it as part of the Freeride World Tour, which stops in Fieberbrunn, and then try to find the best and most spectacular downhill line. Crazy!

We stay on the slopes and as we finally approach a sun terrace, I can feel my stomach growling too. It's time for something to eat. A huge portion of fries is supposed to replenish the power reserves. What a brilliant day of skiing!
