Welcome to all! Our favorite nuclear escapee refits another old sailboat, on his quest to escape both nuclear power and the rat race.

Russ is a submarine electrician and a naval officer, and a Senior Reactor Operator….but that is all now left behind. With a loosely held project plan, and a smattering of general technical and mechanical aptitudes, and a history of boat ownership and navigation as hobbies, Russ is now finishing the lightrefit of a CSY 37 cruising sailboat, bound for the tropics, and is finally shoving off for a solovoyage.

It is not the perfect season to sail the Gulf of Mexico, with frequent squalls and unpredictable winds. And, any boat becalmed with no wind is subject to the very strong Gulf of Mexico loop currents. So, let's see what happens!
