As a politically involved teenager, Sophie is disheartened by the "hashtag activism" in modern American society. In this talk, she addresses the consequences of this growing trend, and details how Americans who want to be politically involved can do better. Sophie was a senior at Orange High School at the time of her talk, and she now attends American University in Washington, DC. She considers herself a politically involved teenager, and believes in taking a stand for what she thinks is right. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
