In this interview, Arshan speaks with Slump6s, one of this year’s breakout artists in the underground, before his performance at Rolling Loud in New York City. We caught up with Slump6s towards the end of KTO’s recent trip to NYC, right before we interviewed Fivio Foreign in New Jersey. Slump6s is an artist from Rochester, New York, who saw a crazy rise to fame this year, alongside artist peers such as Baby Santana, KA$HDAMI, and SSG Kobe. He currently has 3 projects released; his 2020 debut EP, 16, his 2021 collaboration EP with BabySantana, DAKOTAROMANI, and his debut studio album, Origin, which released on November 17, 2021.
Slump6s talks about navigating fame as a high school student, his interactions with fans, and being signed to Zack Bia’s, Field Trip Records. He also goes into detail about his relationships with Zack Bia, Baby Santana, and SoFaygo. Baby Santana’s breakout hit, “Antisocial”, featuring Slump6s and produced by Maajins and cgm, helped propel both artists to national notoriety. The song currently has over 14 millions plays on SoundCloud after only 7 months of being public. Slump6s reflects on his career up until this point, from starting in 7th grade, to joining the “Running Boy'' collective with SoFaygo, and ultimately switching to recording on FL Studio as he began taking his music more seriously. He tells a story about him and Baby Santana meeting Ski Mask the Slump God for the first time at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash, and acknowledges being influenced by both Ski Mask and XXXtentation.
Towards the end of the interview, Slump6s and Arshan agree that rap production has reached a new level, and Slump6s lists his top 3 producers: Maajins, Glory Tee, and BenjiCold. Slump6s gives his thoughts on the Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi Vert reunion, Lil Tecca, and Duwap Kaine, before revealing his bucket list for the next two years, including helping his friends succeed.
