We had a delayed start to the season but finally got the Smith back into the air for 2018. Given it's open cockpit and winters up here at pretty cold, you end up having alot of time away from the airplane and need to recheck yourself on the airplane. My usual approach to doing this is to shoot several approaches, getting lower each time and then eventually landing.
I've shown start up, parts of the three approaches and shut down. The first one was an overshoot at about 150 AGL to the left of centreline given there was a C150 still taxiing clear. I brought her right down into the flare before overshooting on the second. I'd initially planned to go around on the third but the approach and round out looked good so I put it down and she rewarded me with a nice straight roll out. What you can't see is my feet moving (which is important in the Smith).
