Snap Circuits high voltage generator - full explanation

The original Short version of this circuit got multiple thumbs downs because I didn’t finish explaining what was going on. Now I have.

I made this circuit just to see if I could light up a high voltage neon indicator lamp using only stock Snap Circuits parts turns out I can. The odd part is that I am not entirely sure what is going on in the circuit I came up with, but it’s something along the lines of rapid collapse of current in the primary of the transformer inducing a large voltage spike in the secondary.

One thing I failed to mention in the video is that the relay suddenly cutting off the current accounts for one of the two positive or negativegoing voltage spikes when the circuit was running off of 6 volts, but I think something else is causing the oppositepolarity spike. I believe this one is caused by the capacitor dumping its charge into the transformer when the relay contacts close. As to why this didn’t happen when the circuit was powered on 3 volts, is anyone’s guess.
