#30DayChallenges #MurphWorkout

My aim for 2020 was to take on a new physical challenge or skill every month from learning to handstand and juggle, to picking up a guitar (again). With lockdown leading to all gyms closing, I headed to YouTube to find out what workout challenge could inspire me to stay motivated to keep fit AND improve performance. Unsurprisingly, I eventually I found my way to the likes of Cole Baker, The Unlazy Way, Erik Conover, Matt Zhang, Alex Fox (the list goes on). One thing that these names all have in common?... they were crazy enough to do the Murph workout EVERY DAY for 30 days. I thought it was mad so I decided to do the same.

It involves any variation of:
1 mile run
100 pull ups
200 push ups
300 squats
1 mile run

I tried a few different partitions of the sets before settling with 20 sets of 5 pull ups, 10 push ups and 15 squats, occasionally doing the 10set version when I could keep going with the pull ups.

About me: I'd do the various exercises that make up this challenge on a weekly basis normally as part of a broader workout routine, and focus on form. Pull ups my weak point, push ups my strong point.

Doing this challenge every day took my running ability, stamina and recovery to levels I had never achieved throughout my 20s... but, to echo what the other guys say, it wasn't easy.

I'll have more 30 day challenges coming up but happy to take suggestions too.
