I do a lot of offroading, and I wanted a solar charging solution that could charge my battery in the event that I got stuck somewhere in the sticks with a dead battery. I live in the Nevada desert, and it can get very hot in the summers. I, of course, avoid riding in the summer heat, but heat aside, there is a lot of wilderness out there. In this video, I show you how to install such a system and how fast it can actually charge your battery just enough to start your car.

The 50 Watt Renogy solar panel provides plenty of charging to my offroad vehicles batteries at a maximum of 3 amps. This is surprisingly enough power to charge a car battery in short order. I use a 10Amp MPPT solar charge controller made by LensunSolar.

I also cover installing a dual battery kit using AGM (absorbed glass matt) batteries by Odyssey and a battery isolator kit by TrueAm (True Amalgamated) Inc.
