There is a town in the Philippines where thousands of Amerasians, ie half Americanhalf filipino adults and children live than any other place. Built next door to the former US Naval Base at Subic Bay is the town of Olongapo, renowned in the 1970s and 80s as one of the best Rest and Recuperation hotspots in the whole of Asia. Each year millions of United States Military personnel would stream down the gangway of these mighty war ships fighting in the Vietnam War, giving U.S service personnel a well deserved break from the horrors of war. One of the children fathered by a U.S. sailor is a woman called Jennifer Jeanne Leroy. She contacted The Leah and Blair Slog in the hope we may be able to trace her former US Military Father, Mr Robert (Bob) Glenn Leroy, now 79 years old. She has not seen him since she was 2 years old. This is her emotional story of despair, suffering at the hands of her abusive mother and being sold for just $9 dollars to another family. In this highly charged emotional interview Jennifer recounts those sad days and tells of her strong will and determination that one day she might be reunited with her American father.
