Here is a video of Comanche Point Road. It was the middle of winter here in the San Joaquin Valley and it had rained for most of the night before this day. I caught a break in the rain and drove down from Bakersfield, through Arvin and up Comanche Point Road, to Comanche Point, and then back down. It is a fun road/trail with tight switch back sections but is well maintained and I'd say any stock 4x4 could make it. Be sure to use low gears coming down as it is very steep and there are no guardrails or anything of the sort really.

I could find minimal footage of this Road and what actually peaked my interest in this area was an article on a man who had flipped his truck down into a ravine here. He was trapped there for 6 days alone. He was thrown from his vehicle and lay there with a broken back for 6 days. Vehicles passed over him but couldn't hear his cries for help. When he was finally found and rescued he was at death's door but miraculously pulled through.

I was inspired by this story and wanted to see this road.

Now the man in the story was out at night and had no idea the road he was on was more of a trail than a road. He attempted to turn around and flipped the vehicle. He was searching for a shortcut to Tehachapi and Google maps suggested Comanche Point Road. He set out in the dark of night on a road he did not know and it almost ended up being the end of him. But it wasn't the over for that guy.

Thanks for watching
