GBH News

Peter DeMarco made waves last fall when he published a piece in the Boston Globe detailing the series of failures and mistakes made by Somerville Hospital that culminated in the death of his asthmatic wife, Laura Levis, in 2016. He received an apology from the owner of the hospital, Cambridge Health Alliance, as well as a promise that they would order an exhaustive review of everything that went wrong that fateful night. The report was released today, concluding that while no specific individuals were at fault, there were systemic failures of communication and internal policies that need correcting. Jim Braude was joined by former Massachusetts attorney general Martha Coakley, now a partner at Foley and Hoag, the law firm that authored the report.
