On Monday, 24th June 2024, South Western Railway unveiled the newest addition to its fleet: the class 458/4. Having been thoroughly refurbished from their previous life as 458/5s, these trains will eventually serve the Portsmouth Direct line, however at the moment, they are still running on suburban services as we wait for the class 701s to be progressively deployed throughout the network.

Join me as I take a ride on one of the first serviced to be operated by these trains, from Waterloo to Weybridge (via Addlestone) and back the other way, whilst giving a thorough overview and review of the train's onboard facilities and overall condition, whilst also discussing the history of these trains, and what the future might hold for them, and the SWR fleet as a whole!
