On June 2425, 2017, Southern Pacific Daylight steam locomotive 4449 pulled an excursion from Portland to Bend, Oregon, and return. Our coverage begins with the pretrip deadhead and switching of Friday, June 23. We followed the train on Saturday and Sunday, visiting scenic locations in the Columbia Gorge, Deschutes Canyon and the Crooked River bridge.
