NASA's Space Shuttle program retired in 2011, after which the three active Space Shuttles were flown to different retirement locations. On April 17, 2012, Space Shuttle Discovery was flown into Dulles, Virginia for it's final retirement destination. The Space Shuttle Discovery can now be seen by all at the Steven F. UdvarHazy Center of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, replacing the Space Shuttle Enterprise.
Highly recommend visiting this museum if you have an interest in aviation. Just note that while it is the companion facility to the National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C., the UdvarHazy Center is located in Chantilly, VA which is a 4560 minute drive away.
