The SpaceX Starship prototype blasted off the launchpad at 8:33 a.m. in the morning of April 20, 2023. The powerful blast of the engines produced a dust cloud that covered Port Isabel, Texas, in grime about six miles away, and it also broke some concrete structures at the launch pad. Large concrete boulders were ejected in ballistic trajectories that produced impact craters on the soft ground in a mechanism similar to the one that formed the Carolina Bays.
