Spatial Statistics in R: An Introductory Tutorial with Examples

Salt Lake City R Users Group

The video recording of our February Salt Lake City R Users Group meeting with presenter Candace Berrett from BYU

Spatial statistics is a broad and evergrowing field of research. Almost equally expansive are the R packages available for working in this area. Rather than trying to cover all types of spatial analyses and all available packages, this talk will focus on a few common types of analyses and give the listener exposure to a broad selection of others. Specifically, this talk will focus on prediction and regression for geostatistical and areal data in R including topics such as kriging and large data and will give just snapshots of analyses for point pattern data in R.

Candace Berrett is an associate professor in the Department of Statistics at Brigham Young University. Her main research focuses on spatial and spatiotemporal statistics for environmental and epidemiological applications. When she's not busy trying to make pretty plots in R, she's often found in the mountains, on the beach, or hiding in her room reading.
