2. SOUNDBITE (English) Rep. Mike Johnson, U.S Speaker of the House:
"It was a stark display, a big contrast between the two candidates for president. I think what everybody has seen now with their own two eyes, what they've all witnessed, and almost surprising fashion for some. I'm not sure why it was surprising to them, because we've been seeing this for a long time, but there was only one man on that stage who is capable and qualified of being elected president in the next term. And his name is Donald J. Trump and the current occupant of the White House, President Biden, showed what he's really about, I think, on every metric of performance. President Trump obviously did much better. He was right on the issues he showed the temperament, the stamina, the mental acuity that is necessary to do this really important job at this really important time in American history."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Rep. Mike Johnson, U.S Speaker of the House:
"President Biden showed last night, that he was weak, sadly, that he is feeble. And, he said a number of things that are just demonstrably untrue. One of the things that was the most staggering that we heard him say is that he claimed that on his watch. We have not lost any American troops. The lives of no American troops have been lost. As long as he's been president, obviously, that is not true. And I wanted to read, 13 names by way of example that he seems to have forgotten already. Which is really shocking and sad, but apparently he's already forgotten about the 13 American heroes who were lost with his disastrous, withdrawal from Afghanistan."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Rep. Mike Johnson, U.S Speaker of the House:
"The Chevron doctrine has been overturned. And this is something that is will be a remarkable turn of events. It will allow us, I genuinely believe, to exercise again article one authority, the legislative branch. The way our framers intended this to work, it's supposed to have the authority to determine how the agencies of the government work and what their scope is. The Chevron doctrine since 1984 has made that, a real problem because it gave deference to the agencies to interpret their own rules. And that is why the administrative state has grown so far out of control. It's one of the primary root problems that we've been trying to work through here."

8. SOUNDBITE (English) Rep. Mike Johnson, U.S Speaker of the House:
"The president of the United States has told the attorney general not to turn over the tape. I think after last night's debate, I think we all understand very clearly why that is. He will very likely sound exactly on that tape, as he did on the stage last night. And that's embarrassing to the president. We're sorry about that. We're not trying to embarrass the president. We're trying to get down to the facts."
