This Scene Remix depicts how Baltimore Police Department's Det. Michael Santangelo comes to be used by Maj. Rawls as an intraagency spy on Det. Jimmy McNulty.

DIRECTOR’S NOTES

All the Scenes used are from S01E067, and I made this Scene Remix around my love for the scene where Rawls mocks Santangelo about his "dunkers", then tried to piece together the story around how "Sanny" came to be used as a double agent, and a very "special" agent, against McNulty.

While the Scene Remix doesn't start focusing on Santangelo until the second half, I felt that the numerous characters shown throughout this Scene Remix is "Tarantinoesque," likewise with the title screen making me think of Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction. I also drew inspiration from Christopher Nolan's style of opening movies with a poignant establishing shot to begin the Scene Remix, almost making this Scene Remix appear like a thriller at first!

I tried my best to include all the footage I could for the scenes but there were some where the transitions were pushed to their limit but still could have used more time, like how I did the transition with Phelan telling Jimmy to sit and talk had I left in any more footage you would have seen frames from other scenes or heard weird leftover noises that would ruin the presentation, so I did the best I could with the information I had.

I was thinking about adding more exposition to set up the takedown of Bird, but I also like how I just throw the scene in there because afterwards the viewer is "catching up on what happened" like Santangelo was by waking up to a phone call about it, so we get some fun point of view experience out of that.

On the administrative side, this was the first Scene Remix that I had to delete and reupload because the first attempt resulted in my video being copyright blocked worldwide, but my second attempt with much better reasoning obtained the same results as the last 12 Scene Remixes, meaning you're all able to see the video. In the future I'll utilize this method again if my videos still get blocked after I dispute the copyright.
