"SpongeBob SquarePants" is an animated television series created by marine science educator and animator Stephen Hillenburg. The show premiered on Nickelodeon on May 1, 1999. It follows the adventures of the title character, SpongeBob SquarePants, who lives in a pineapple under the sea in the fictional underwater city of Bikini Bottom.

Main Characters
SpongeBob SquarePants: A cheerful and optimistic sea sponge who works as a fry cook at the Krusty Krab restaurant. He loves jellyfishing and karate.

Patrick Star: SpongeBob's best friend, a starfish who is friendly but not very bright. He lives under a rock.

Squidward Tentacles: SpongeBob's neighbor and coworker, an octopus who is often annoyed by SpongeBob and Patrick's antics. He plays the clarinet and dreams of becoming a famous musician.

Sandy Cheeks: A squirrel from Texas who lives in an underwater dome and is a skilled karate practitioner and scientist.

Mr. Krabs: The moneyloving owner of the Krusty Krab restaurant. He is obsessed with making money and is very cheap.

Plankton: The main antagonist, a small green plankton who constantly tries to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula from Mr. Krabs.
