The grapes like limestone, pH more for the basics, and large pots (of 50 liters are the best) of clay. The earthenware pot is better because it will not heat the roots of the plant and will prevent the accumulation of water, poor soil respiration and the proliferation of fungi that affect the roots.

Buy a seedling of Vitis labrusca, from a good source and plant it in a wellfertilized earth in nitrogen and limestone. If you live in a zone of heavy summer rains let the vase of the vine out of your reach. Choose a location from your balcony or garden where you hit the sun full, the more hours the better, and cool wind. The wind will dry the soil from the vase preventing the proliferation of fungi.
In the coldest season of the year the vine will lose its leaves this happens after the fruiting period and that is when you should prune it quite radically. Winter pruning is usually done by leaving 3 buds of germination from the main branch and making an angle cut. It is advisable to sprinkle the cuts with cinnamon powder to avoid contaminations and fungi. As you can see, fungi are the big problem to take care of. The vine produces fertile branches after these winter prunings.
Other prunings are cleaning cut the branches that come from the base of the vine (leave only one, the main, which you will pull and tying, until forming a trellis, or pergola) as these will only draw strength from the plant. Cut also the dry or diseased branches. Bran residues should not be left under the plant to increase the risk of contamination with pathogens.
Cover the vase of your vine with limestone that will, little by little, releasing necessary minerals to the plant.

In pot, the plant requires systemic fertilization you should replenish the NPK needs every 34 months (the ratio is 20520 and that means the vine needs 4 times more nitrogen and potassium than choose the fertilizer you will use with that in mind).
