Excerpt from an ITN News report on Ghana under the rule of President Kwame Nkrumah.

Bankole Akpata, one of Nkrumah's advisers, explains the challenges facing the African continent and concludes that "history and geography are on the side of Kwame Nkrumah".

NB.

. Bankole Akpata was a founder member of the West African National Secretariat (WANS), which was a panAfricanist organisation inuagurated by Nkrumah in the wake of the Manchester PanAfrican Congress, which was held in 1945. Other members included I. T. A. WallaceJohnson (the first Chairman), Kojo Botsio and Bankole AwoonerRenner (the first President). Many of its initial members were also members of the West African Students' Union (WASU).

. In 1966, Nkrumah was overthrown by a military coup led by Colonel Emmanuel Kotoka. He died in 1972 in Rumania during his exile in the West African state of Guinea.
