Los Padres National Forest Santa Ynez Mountains Santa Barbara County, Southern California. It is in the White Oak Group (Lepidobalanus/Quercus) of the Beech Family (Fagaceae). It is the most widespread scrub oak species in California. it is often confused with the other species of scrub oaks in the state due to its variable morphological habit.
