Spun rod bearing??? FIX IT!!!

I didn't know you could do this but you can fix a spun rod bearing!!! So my brother was driving his car and it was low on oil, hit a corner fast and pushed the oil to one side of the oil pan, and it ran dry for a couple seconds. Then a slight rod knock came a couple minutes later. We ended up pulling the oil pan, taking all the connecting rod caps off and found the one the was spun. Sanded all the surfaces as smooth as we could get them with 1000 grit sandpaper and bought a brand new oem bearing, checked clearances everything looked good, cleaned the oil pan, and went back together great (with assembly oil on everything so it didn't do it again!).. Im sure it won't last forever but it will get you going until you can find out what you're going to do. Its lasted so far on his car which is turbo'd now and won't have an easy life. The bearing was not that expensive and was well worth a try to get it going again.

This was probably best case scenario, it happened like 10 min from home and only lost pressure for about 3 seconds at a lower RPM around a turn. Also we SANDED for HOURS to get things smooth with a fine sandpaper, our clearances were good and it wasn't too damaged to start with. So depending on what your working with, this may work, and may not!!!

Check you oil....
