శ్రీ రుద్రం కృష్ణ యజుర్వేదంలో ఎంతో ప్రముఖమైన భాగం. రుద్రము ఋగ్ యజుస్ సామ అథర్వణ వేదాల సారమనే చెప్పచ్చు. నమక చమకాల సమ్మిళతమే శ్రీ రుద్రము. నమకము విరక్తిని మనకి నేర్పిస్తే, చమకము భగవంతుడి నుండి మనం కోరికల కోసం ప్రార్థించేటట్టు చేస్తుంది. మనకి ఏది మంచి ఏది చెడ్డది? ఏది అడగాలి ఏది విడిచిపెట్టాలి? సృష్టిలోని ప్రతి అణువులో పరమాత్ముడు ఉన్నాడన్న సత్యాన్ని తెలిపే ఈ మహా మంత్రము మీకోసం అర్థసహితంగా అందిస్తున్నాం. విని ఆనందించండి.

Rudram forms a very important section of Kṛṣhṇa Yajur Vēda. Rudram is generally understood to be a prayer to Lord Rudra. In fact, it is the essence of all the Vedas, viz. Ṛg Vēda, Yajur Vēda, Sāma Vēda and Atharvaṇa Vēda. Another important feature of Rudram is the ēkatva (unity) between its two parts, Namaka and Chamaka. Namaka lays stress on virakti (detachment) whereas Chamaka dwells on desires for this and that. What is to be discarded and what is to be desired? That which is evil is to be discarded and all that is good is to be desired. Understanding of both these aspects is essential for man.” As we celebrate the sacred festival of Maha Shivaratri we bring to you the chanting of the Sri Rudra Namakam along with its meaning.
